In the Cottage Garden - August

Well after my sad rabbit invasion last month, I have been gradually picking strawberries which were sweet, juicy and had that lovely 'English' strawberry flavour that some of the supermarket strawberries fail to have. The peas are coming along, although I wished I had planted a lot more I think there will only be sufficient for a few meals! But this was a learning experience and yes I am learning my first job for spring will be erecting some sort of fencing to keep the bunnies away and I now know that planting seeds in the greenhouse is a much better way of getting results when planting on in the garden.

Otherwise my leeks are nearly ready and I think we are just about to start on the first lot of new potatoes so more next month when the tomatoes will be ripe and the cauliflowers should be on their way too.
