In the Cottage Garden - June 2012

by -

Thank goodness the weather has now picked up and allowed me to get outdoors and get planting! I managed to talk my teenage son into 'helping' out with some of the digging and planting this month and I think he secretly enjoyed it!

So we have now got lots of things underway, from cauliflowers and kale to onions and leeks. I've got the strawberries under cover for protection from the local rabbit colony and the potatoes are starting to shoot through too. We've got tomatoes in the greenhouse and carrots, parsnips and beetroot planted too. And the herbs are well under way, the ample rain has helped to really get them flourishing. This month we hope to plant some nasturtiums for decorating the summer salads and lots of different green leaves for gracing the summer table …. Hope the weather holds out for us!
