Overweight – Over 50 – Over-worked?

Does any of this sound familiar?

You are desperate to find time for all those work commitments, the family, your game of tennis or a session each week with your personal trainer, so how on earth can you fit healthy nutrition into all of that?

If you are overweight, over 50 years of age, highly stressed and time-starved! What possible solution can there be to add a further commitment into your life? The answer is probably staring you in the face each time you take your blood pressure medication or your statin to keep the cholesterol under control.

Did you know that high blood pressure (hypertension) and high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) are caused by inflammation? Inflammation is a key factor in weight gain and especially the fat around the middle kind of weight gain. High blood pressure, high cholesterol and conditions such as gout and arthritis are all known as inflammatory conditions and, you guessed it …..lead to much bigger, much more dangerous health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, stroke and cancer. A collection of these symptoms is known as Metabolic Syndrome.

Metabolic syndrome is a collection of the following symptoms: -

  • High blood pressure
  • Excess fat around the middle
  • Increased levels of bad cholesterol
  • Increased triglycerides (fat in the blood)
  • Increased blood sugar levels


If you leave these conditions untreated, then you are more likely to increase your chances of cardiovascular disease, strokes and cancers. But an aggressive approach to dietary and lifestyle changes can delay or prevent these conditions and therefore increase your chances of longevity.

  • "I had been back and forth to my GP with various digestive complaints including bloating, acid reflux, alternating constipation and diarrhoea and abdominal pain. My GP prescribed me laxatives and tablets for the acid reflux. I decided I was far too young at 36 years old to be having these problems and went to Natural Solutions.
